CO2 Laser — Neck

CO2 laser is a resurfacing procedure that addresses the skin's surface: its texture, fine lines, and pigmentation. It works by removing the outer layer and stimulating collagen in the tissue beneath. A surgical neck lift is an operation that addresses deeper structures. It tightens the underlying platysma muscle and removes excess, sagging skin. The two procedures address different anatomical issues and are not interchangeable.

The treatment plan is designed to avoid a visible boundary between treated and untreated skin. The area can be extended to include the skin under the chin, along the jawline, or onto the upper chest to create a consistent appearance. The exact boundaries are determined during the consultation, based on an assessment of the skin's condition across these connecting areas.

Skin with more pigment has a higher possibility of post-treatment hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation. The neck's thin skin is particularly sensitive. For this reason, a person's skin type is a critical factor in determining whether they are a candidate for this procedure, and what laser settings would be considered. A thorough assessment of skin tone and history is made before any plan is proposed.

The laser removes the epidermis, the skin's outermost layer. The body's natural healing process then begins. New skin cells form to create a new surface. At the same time, the heat from the laser in the deeper dermis layer stimulates the production of new collagen fibres. This process of renewal and collagen remodelling is how the treatment affects the skin's texture and structure.

All laser procedures are carried out in a fully accredited hospital in Istanbul. The specific hospital is named in your written treatment plan before you travel. Your surgeon performs the treatment. Depending on the plan decided during your consultation, a specialist from our anaesthesia team may also be present. A dedicated interpreter is with you at the hospital to ensure clear communication.

For the consultation, it is helpful to have a list of any medications and supplements you take regularly. Be prepared to discuss your skin's history, including any tendency for unusual scarring. Details of your past and current sun exposure habits are important, as is information about any previous cosmetic treatments you have had on the neck, jawline or face, from prescription creams to other procedures.
