Thigh Lift

Liposuction removes deposits of fat but does not address loose or excess skin. A thigh lift is a procedure designed specifically to remove and tighten skin. Liposuction may be used as part of a thigh lift if there are also pockets of fat to be removed, but it cannot by itself correct the skin laxity that the lift targets. The choice of procedure depends on whether the primary issue is skin, fat, or a combination of both.

The location and length of the scar depend entirely on the amount and area of skin being removed. For changes limited to the upper inner thigh, the incision may be placed within the groin crease. When more significant tightening is required along the length of the thigh, the incision may extend from the groin down the inside of the leg. The surgical plan aims to place the scar where it is least visible, but its final position is a direct result of the individual’s anatomy and the extent of the correction.

A thigh lift is a procedure for removing excess skin and fat to alter the contour of the thighs. It is not designed as a treatment for cellulite, which relates to the texture of the skin surface itself. While tightening the skin may have some incidental effect on its appearance, the procedure does not directly target or remove cellulite, and this should not be the primary reason for considering the operation.

A standard thigh lift primarily addresses the inner (medial) thigh. The procedure can, however, be extended to address other areas. An outer (lateral) thigh lift targets the skin on the sides of the legs and may be planned with a buttock lift. A circumferential lift addresses the entire upper leg, hip, and buttock area in one continuous procedure. The surgical plan is determined by where the loose skin is located on the body.

The thigh lift is performed in a fully accredited hospital in Istanbul. The specific hospital is confirmed in your written surgical plan before you travel. The team includes the surgeon, the clinic’s own specialist anaesthetist and their team, and surgical nurses. An interpreter is present from the consultation through to the hospital discharge to ensure clear communication about your procedure and post-operative care.

For your consultation, it is helpful to have clear photographs of your thighs from the front, back, and sides. Be prepared to discuss your weight history, noting if your weight has been stable and for how long. Consider what you would ideally wear if the loose skin were not a concern, as this can help communicate your goals. You should also have a list of any medications and supplements you take regularly.
