Body Lifts at LIN Europe Clinic, Istanbul

Brachioplasty is surgery on the skin and underlying fat of the upper arm, between the armpit and the elbow. The procedure removes excess tissue, aiming to create a firmer contour. How much skin can be removed and where the incision is placed depend on your anatomy: the elasticity of your skin, the amount of looseness, and the tone of the underlying muscle. These factors also determine the length and final position of the scar.

The same goal of a tighter upper arm leads to different surgical plans for different people. The planning is not for the arm in isolation; it is done against the shape of the shoulder, the armpit, and the side of the chest. The amount and location of the excess skin determines whether a short incision hidden in the armpit is enough, or if a longer incision along the inner arm is required to achieve the desired contour.

Shape moved, not added

Front and back. Fat taken from the waist is what fills the shape above it.

The central consideration in this operation is the exchange of sagging skin for a scar. The surgeon’s plan focuses on placing this scar where it is least visible from the front or back when the arms are resting at the sides. This placement must also respect the arm’s full range of motion, so the scar does not pull or restrict movement. The final shape is a balance between tissue removal and a well-placed, well-healed incision.

No price list. Every plan is quoted for one person and one anatomy, so a figure only means something once someone has looked at yours — you get one in writing before you commit to anything.

Questions people ask

Answered as far as they can be answered in writing. Anything that depends on your own anatomy is answered by a surgeon looking at it.

What is the difference between an arm lift and liposuction for arms?

Liposuction removes deposits of fat but does not tighten the overlying skin. It is suited to cases where skin elasticity is good. An arm lift, or brachioplasty, is a procedure designed to remove excess, sagging skin as well as underlying fat. It addresses skin laxity directly, which often occurs after significant weight loss or with ageing. The choice between them depends entirely on whether the primary issue is excess fat or loose skin.

Where does the scar go for an arm lift?

The scar's location and length depend on the amount of skin to be removed. For a small amount of looseness near the armpit, a shorter incision can sometimes be hidden within the armpit's natural creases. For more significant sagging along the upper arm, the incision typically runs on the inner surface, from the armpit towards the elbow. The surgical plan aims to place the scar so it is least visible from the front or back when the arms are held naturally at the sides.

Are the results of an arm lift permanent?

The skin and fat cells removed during an arm lift are gone. However, the procedure does not stop the natural ageing process, and the remaining skin will continue to lose elasticity over time. Future significant weight fluctuations can also stretch the skin and alter the arm's contour. Maintaining a stable body weight and a healthy lifestyle are factors that support the longevity of the surgical outcome.

Can an arm lift be combined with other plastic surgery?

An arm lift is often performed as part of a larger surgical plan, particularly for individuals who have undergone major weight loss. It can be combined with procedures addressing other areas, such as the breasts, abdomen, or thighs. Whether it is appropriate to combine surgeries is a decision based on the patient’s overall health, the total projected operating time, and the extent of each procedure. This is evaluated carefully during the surgical planning phase.

Where is the arm lift operation performed and who is in the room?

All brachioplasty procedures are carried out in a fully accredited hospital in Istanbul. The specific hospital is named in your surgical plan before you travel. In the operating theatre with your surgeon will be a specialist anaesthetist from the clinic's dedicated team, along with surgical nurses. To ensure clear communication at every point, an interpreter is present from your initial consultation through to your postoperative care and discharge from the hospital.

What should I bring to my arm lift consultation?

For your brachioplasty consultation, it is helpful to prepare your medical history. This includes a full list of current medications, vitamins, and supplements. Be ready to discuss your past weight fluctuations and any previous surgeries, particularly on the arms or chest. Having photographs that show your arms from several angles can aid the discussion. Most important is being able to describe what bothers you and what you hope to address with the surgery.
