This operation removes excess breast fat, glandular tissue and skin to reduce the size and weight of the breasts. The nipple and areola are repositioned higher on the chest, and the areola itself is often made smaller. How much volume can be removed and what final shape is achievable depends on the existing breast composition, the quality and elasticity of your skin, and the width of your chest. The aim is a breast in proportion with the rest of the body.
The final shape is not planned against a photograph, but against the body it belongs to. The surgeon considers the width of the shoulders, the shape of the rib cage, and the overall torso dimensions. A breast size and shape that is balanced on one frame could appear disproportionate on another, which is why the same goal can lead to different surgical plans. The objective is a result that fits the individual's anatomy, not one that copies an idealised image.

What is the difference between a breast lift and a breast reduction with lift?
A breast lift (mastopexy) primarily addresses sagging by removing excess skin and repositioning the nipple and breast tissue higher on the chest, with minimal change to the overall volume. A breast reduction with lift removes a significant amount of breast tissue—fat and glands—as well as skin, to reduce both volume and weight. It inherently includes a lift to reshape the smaller breast.
Where are the incisions for a breast reduction and what will the scars be like?
The most common incision pattern is an anchor shape: one circle around the areola, a vertical line down to the breast fold, and a horizontal line along the fold itself. The incisions are placed to be concealed by a bra or bikini top. How a scar matures depends entirely on individual healing, skin type, and post-operative care. Its final appearance cannot be predicted.
How will weight changes or pregnancy affect my breast reduction results?
The breast tissue that is removed is gone. However, the remaining tissue is still subject to changes from hormonal fluctuations or significant shifts in body weight. Pregnancy and breastfeeding can alter the size and shape of the breasts again. For this reason, many people choose to have the procedure after they have completed their family.
Can I breastfeed after a breast reduction and lift?
The ability to breastfeed after this surgery varies. During the procedure, milk ducts can be affected when tissue is removed and the nipple is repositioned. While some individuals can breastfeed successfully, it is not a certainty. The possibility of breastfeeding is a crucial topic to discuss with the surgeon, who can explain how the planned surgical technique might affect this function in your specific case.
Where is a breast reduction and lift performed and who will be in the operating room?
The operation is performed in a fully accredited hospital in Istanbul. The specific hospital is confirmed in your written surgical plan before any travel is booked. In the operating room will be your surgeon, the clinic's dedicated anaesthetist and their team, surgical nurses, and an interpreter. This team is consistent for every procedure.
What should I bring to my breast reduction consultation?
Bring any medical history related to your breasts, such as mammogram results. It is also helpful to bring photographs of breasts whose shape and size you find proportionate, keeping in mind that the final plan is based on your own anatomy. Wearing or bringing a bra that represents the size you are aiming for can also be a useful reference for the discussion with your surgeon.
