Breast Augmentation with Lift

A lift alone (mastopexy) repositions the existing breast tissue and nipple higher on the chest, removing skin to address sagging. It does not add volume. A breast augmentation with lift combines this repositioning with the placement of an implant. The implant adds volume and fullness, particularly to the upper part of the breast, which a lift on its own cannot achieve. The choice depends on whether the primary concern is position, volume, or both.

The procedure requires incisions to place the implant and to perform the lift. The implant incision is often in the fold under the breast. The lift incisions typically go around the areola and vertically down to the breast fold, sometimes with an additional incision along the fold itself. The selection is based on your anatomy. Measurements of the chest wall width, the existing breast tissue, and skin elasticity are the starting point. Breast implants are not considered lifetime devices. Like any medical device, they are subject to changes, including rupture or deflation. The body also continues to age around the implant, which can affect the breast's appearance. The possibility of future surgery to replace or remove the implants is a consideration for any patient choosing this procedure. Follow-up and monitoring are part of the long-term plan.

The procedure is conducted by your surgeon, accompanied by the clinic's own dedicated anaesthesia team. An interpreter is present throughout your hospital stay to ensure clear communication between you, the surgical team, and the hospital staff.

Bring any relevant medical documents, such as results from past mammograms or breast ultrasounds. It is helpful to have photographs of breast shapes you find proportionate, keeping in mind that the result depends on your own anatomy. Wear or bring a simple, non-padded bra and a close-fitting top; this helps in assessing your current shape and in trying implant sizers to visualize potential volume changes.
