This treatment uses a thulium laser to create microscopic columns in the upper layers of the skin, prompting a healing response that builds new collagen. It is intended to address superficial concerns: uneven pigmentation from sun exposure, skin texture, enlarged pores, and fine lines. The degree of change possible depends on the starting condition of the skin, its thickness, and its inherent capacity to heal and regenerate. Deeper wrinkles or significant sagging are not the intended targets of this procedure.

The same settings will produce different effects on different skin. A person's age, history of sun exposure, and genetic predispositions all influence how the skin will respond to the laser energy and rebuild itself afterwards. For this reason, the treatment is not planned against a photograph but against the skin’s own condition. The aim is an improvement in clarity and texture relative to how the skin was before the treatment, not a comparison to an external standard.
