A temporal lift repositions the tissues covering the side of the head, above the outer corner of the eye. The procedure addresses the descent of the outer third of the eyebrow and the creasing of the skin next to it. How much lift is possible, and where the incisions are placed, depends on your hairline, the quality of your skin, and the shape of the bone around your eye socket. It is a procedure focused on a specific part of the upper face.
The aim is to restore a position, not to create a new expression. The outer brow is planned in relation to the central brow, the upper eyelid, and the overall shape of the eye. Raising the tail of the brow without considering the neighbouring anatomy is how an unnatural, pulled look is created. The procedure is therefore designed against your own facial structure and how it has aged, not toward a generic ideal of where a brow should sit.

Heaviness in the upper eyelid is often connected to the position of the brow above it. What appears to be excess eyelid skin can sometimes be the result of a descended brow pressing down on the lid. For this reason, the brow and eyelid are assessed together. Addressing the brow position can change what, if anything, needs to be done to the eyelid itself. The two structures function as a single anatomical unit and are planned for as one.

What is the difference between a temporal lift and a full brow lift?
A temporal lift focuses only on the outer third of the brow, addressing descent and creasing at the sides of the eyes. A full brow lift, or forehead lift, addresses the entire brow, including the central and inner portions. The choice depends on where the brow has descended and how this affects the forehead and eyelids. The assessment determines which approach is appropriate for your specific anatomy and pattern of aging.
Where are the incisions for a temporal lift and will they be visible?
Incisions are typically placed within the hairline in the temple region. The exact position and length are planned based on your specific hairline, hair density, and the amount of lift required. The aim is to conceal the resulting scars within the hair. How you wear your hair is a factor in this planning, which is discussed during the consultation. The healing process of any scar is individual.
Can a temporal lift be done at the same time as an eyelid surgery?
Yes, a temporal lift is often considered alongside upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). The position of the brow directly impacts the appearance of the upper eyelid. Assessing them together allows for a plan that addresses both structures in a single operation if needed. Correcting the brow position first can change the requirements for the eyelid surgery itself, as some eyelid heaviness may be from the brow.
Is a temporal lift the same as a thread lift for the brows?
No, they are different procedures. A temporal lift is a surgical procedure that repositions the skin and the deeper tissue layers for a structural change. A thread lift uses temporary sutures to pull the skin. The two methods work differently, involve different levels of tissue manipulation, and are suited to different anatomical situations. The consultation will assess which, if any, approach is appropriate.
Where is a temporal lift surgery performed and who will be in the room?
The temporal lift is performed in a fully accredited hospital in Istanbul, which is specified in your surgical plan before you travel. The operation is conducted by your surgeon, assisted by the clinic's own specialist anaesthetist and surgical team. A dedicated interpreter is present throughout your hospital stay to ensure clear communication between you and the medical staff.
What should I bring to my temporal lift consultation?
For your consultation, it is helpful to bring photographs of your face from ten to fifteen years ago. These show your natural brow position before significant aging. Also, be prepared to discuss your medical history, any previous treatments to the area like botulinum toxin or fillers, and your typical hairstyle, as this is relevant to planning the incision sites.
