Liquid Facelift

A surgical facelift addresses sagging by repositioning the deeper layers of facial tissue and removing excess skin through incisions. A liquid facelift does not involve surgery. Instead, it uses injectable hyaluronic acid fillers to restore volume where the underlying fat has diminished. By replacing this lost structural support, particularly in the cheeks and temples, it can redefine facial contours. The two procedures address different aspects of facial aging and are not interchangeable.

The fillers used are composed of hyaluronic acid, a substance the body also produces. They are not designed to remain in the tissue indefinitely, as the body gradually metabolizes the material. How an individual's body processes the filler, the specific product used, and where it is placed are all factors in the duration of the effect. The treatment can be repeated to maintain the restored volume. There is no set schedule for this; it is based on individual changes.

There is no standard volume of filler for this procedure. The amount required is determined entirely by a direct assessment of your facial anatomy, skin quality, and the specific pattern of volume loss you have experienced. The approach treats the face as a whole, so the plan might involve placing small amounts in several areas to create a balanced result. The goal is to use the precise amount needed to rebuild support where it has been lost, and no more.

The intention of a liquid facelift is to restore the underlying structure that your face has lost, not to create a new shape. A puffy or overfilled appearance is often the result of placing too much filler in one area or failing to respect the patient's original anatomy. The treatment plan focuses on placing filler deep against the bone in key structural points. This rebuilds the foundation and supports the overlying skin, rather than simply inflating the surface.

The treatment takes place in a dedicated clinical procedure room at our clinic, not in a hospital operating theatre. The injections are performed by a surgeon. It is most helpful to bring a clear understanding of what you see in your face that you wish to address. Photographs of yourself from five or ten years ago can also be a useful reference for the surgeon to understand your natural facial structure and how it has changed. A complete list of any previous cosmetic treatments, both surgical and non-surgical, is essential, as is a full list of your current medications and any supplements you take.
