Arm liposuction removes subcutaneous fat from the upper arms using a cannula. The procedure can reduce volume and refine the arm's silhouette, especially along the underside from the armpit to the elbow. The extent of the possible change depends on the amount and location of the fat deposits, but most importantly on the skin's quality. Skin with good elasticity will retract over the new, smaller contour; skin that has lost its tone may not, and this is a central part of the assessment.

The goal is an arm that fits the proportions of the body it is attached to. A surgeon assesses the arm not in isolation, but in relation to the shoulder, the chest, and the overall frame. For this reason, the same request leads to different surgical plans. The amount of fat removed is determined by what will look balanced with the rest of the anatomy. An arm that is simply made as small as possible can look out of place and draw attention to itself.

Shape moved, not added

Front and back. Fat taken from the waist is what fills the shape above it.

The main question for the upper arms is whether the problem is fat, loose skin, or both. Liposuction addresses only fat. If the skin has lost its elasticity due to weight changes or ageing, removing the fat underneath can leave the skin looking emptier and looser than before. In these cases, a different procedure that removes excess skin is the conversation to have. Sometimes the two are considered together, but they address fundamentally different tissues and problems.

No price list. Every plan is quoted for one person and one anatomy, so a figure only means something once someone has looked at yours — you get one in writing before you commit to anything.

Questions people ask

Answered as far as they can be answered in writing. Anything that depends on your own anatomy is answered by a surgeon looking at it.

What is the difference between arm liposuction and an arm lift?

Arm liposuction removes subcutaneous fat using a cannula. It addresses volume. An arm lift, or brachioplasty, removes excess skin and the fat attached to it. It addresses sagging. The choice depends entirely on the quality of the skin. If skin has good elasticity, it can retract over the smaller contour after liposuction. If the skin is loose from weight changes or ageing, removing the fat beneath it can worsen the appearance of sagging. The assessment is about which tissue — fat or skin — is the main problem.

How much fat is removed during arm liposuction?

The amount of fat removed is decided not by what is possible, but by what will create a balanced proportion with the shoulder, chest, and overall physique. The objective is an arm that fits the body, not simply the smallest arm that can be achieved. Removing too much fat can create an unnatural contour that looks disconnected from the surrounding anatomy. The surgical plan is based on an assessment of the whole upper body, aiming for a harmonious silhouette.

Where are the incisions for arm liposuction?

The incisions for arm liposuction are very small, made only to allow the surgical cannula to pass under the skin. They are typically placed in discreet locations, such as within the crease of the armpit or near the elbow. The exact position and number of incisions depend on the specific areas of the upper arm being treated and the surgeon's plan to access the fat deposits while keeping any marks as inconspicuous as possible.

Can the fat come back after arm liposuction?

Liposuction physically removes fat cells from the treated areas of the arms, and these cells do not regenerate. However, this does not prevent the remaining fat cells in the arms, or anywhere else in the body, from increasing in size with future weight gain. While the new contour of the arms is lasting in the sense that the removed cells are gone, maintaining the result depends on a stable body weight. A significant increase in weight will affect the entire body, including the treated areas.

Where is arm liposuction surgery performed and who is in the room?

All arm liposuction procedures are conducted in a fully accredited general hospital in Istanbul. The specific hospital is confirmed in your written surgical plan before any travel arrangements are made. The operation is performed by your surgeon, assisted by their own dedicated anaesthetist and surgical team from the clinic. A member of our team is also present throughout to provide interpretation, ensuring clear communication at every stage.

What should I prepare for an arm liposuction consultation?

For your consultation, it helps to have photographs that show your arms from different angles — front, back, and with arms raised. This helps to illustrate what concerns you. Be ready to discuss your weight history, including major fluctuations, and any upper body exercise you do. A list of all medications and supplements you take is essential. Most importantly, be prepared to describe, in your own words, what you see and what you would like to address.
