It uses helium plasma energy to tighten skin after lipo.
Until quite recently, one of the biggest frustrations of undergoing liposuction was the disappointing outcome of skin laxity after fat removal. It was like the skin was a balloon that had been deflated. When the volume of the balloon was gone the skin didn’t always tighten or “snap back”. This is especially true in the case of an older patient with poorer skin elasticity. Only a small number of such patients were able to undergo a conventional lipo only treatment. The majority had to opt for either living with puffy skin or having a tummy tuck or an arm lift with lots of visible scars.
J-Plasma, also called by the company name Renuvion, is the breakthrough technology that has changed everything in this area of body contouring. It is not designed to remove fat but only to tighten the skin. When J-Plasma is paired with conventional liposuction, the result is a body contouring treatment with a dual mode of action: removing volume and shrinking the skin. At Lin Health Europe Clinic, we consider J-Plasma a top-tier non-excisional tightening method. With J-Plasma, we can extend the benefits of liposuction to “grey zone” patients who, on the one hand, have more skin laxity than what standard liposuction can deal with and, on the other, have less skin laxity that doesn’t justify a major excision.
The Physics: Helium Gas Meets Radiofrequency

J-Plasma is not a laser treatment. It is a type of Cold Atmospheric Plasma treatment. First, helium gas, which is an inert gas, is sent through the device and then is energized by radiofrequency (RF) waves.
The resultant gas at the end of the process is a plasma which is a highly energized state of matter. In this case, the tissue is hit by plasma that is very hot (around 85°C), thus the tissue gets instant contraction. At the same time, however, the tissue’s temperature goes down drastically (this is the magic of J-Plasma technology). After one second, the heating and cooling operations are completed simultaneously. Without J-Plasma, we would not be able to safely deposit so much energy on the underside of the dermis to produce skin contraction without surface damage (e.g., burns) or overheating the patient. Thus the device is safer and more efficient than laser lipolysis.
The “Shrink-Wrap” Effect
The J-Plasma probe is introduced through a very small surgery opening used also for liposuction. It is moved back and forth under the skin and its action is targeted at the Fibroseptal Network.
The fibroconnective network comprises microscopic collagen fibers connecting your skin with your muscles. It can be likened to the main pillars of a house that hold up the roof. The J-Plasma is focused on these collagen fibers, the heating of which brings an instantaneous contraction. Completion of the skin tightening process can be witnessed on the operating table. The patient’s skin continues to undergo changes for several months (6 to 9 months) following the procedure (the heat-induced collagen synthesis neocollagenesis).
The Perfect Partner: Why Combine with Liposuction?
It is extremely rare for J-Plasma to be used as a sole treatment. It works best with High-Definition Liposuction and VASER is a good example of this kind of liposuction.
Liposuction accomplishes the main task: it extracts fat from the deep as well as the superficial levels, thereby creating “space” for muscles to show through. Following that, J-Plasma can be compared to the icing on the cake. With the skin tightened over the newly sculpted muscles, the muscle definition is enhanced visually. As an illustration, here is one more abdominal “High-Def” procedure. J-Plasma in this case is used to make sure that the skin mixtures closely to the abdominal grooves (the “six-pack”), thus avoiding the occurrence of the skin being rippled or detached. A “smaller” stomach becomes a “toned” stomach.
Avoiding the Scar: Treating Difficult Areas

The major benefit of J-Plasma is the ability to do treatments without any scarring. Until now, if a person wanted to get rid of sagging upper arms or loose inner thigh skin, the only thing that could be done in the case of Brachioplasty or Thigh Lift was the surgeries that produce permanent, long scars.
The J-Plasma procedure allows for mild and moderate skin laxity of arm and thigh to be treated through small 4 millimeters incisions. In particular, for the Neck and Jawline, it is a game-changer. J-Plasma can effectively be used for the treatment of the neck of patients who have turkey neck condition and are not willing to undergo a face-lift. More importantly, the cervicomental angle is sharply defined which, without J-Plasma, can only be achieved by making incisions behind the ears.
Long-Term Collagen Remodeling: The Gift That Keeps on Giving
In a nutshell, the immediate tightening observed in the operating room is only part of what J-Plasma offers. Other than that, the treatment brings long-lasting collagen remodeling which is a rare biological benefit. The result of a surgical operation, unlike the one triggered by J-Plasma, stays the same over time. The dermis regeneration that occurs after a J-Plasma treatment is the body’s reaction to a wound repair process which is kicked off by the thermal injury caused by the plasma.
After the treatment, over a period of months from 6 to 12, new collagen is produced in an organized manner and as a result, the skin gradually gets thicker, firmer, and more youthful in appearance. For a woman who wants to have a “Mommy Makeover” but without the downtime of a tummy tuck, this is a great way of investing in herself. Furthermore, patients who want to “future-proof” their bodies preparing them for aging still to come, will benefit from investing in J-Plasma. It is the missing link between non-surgical and major surgical approaches and, thus, represents the next phase of minimally invasive body contouring.
J-Plasma in Turkey: Why Choose Lin Health Europe Clinic?
The best tool in the world is useless without a master. J-Plasma in Turkey is a new and popular treatment; however, safety comes first. Combined heat and gas without proper control can cause seroma or tissue injury.
Our surgeons at Lin Health Europe Clinic who are experts in the field of Renuvion/J-Plasma technology, hold official certification. It is never our practice to use the device as a kind of a “universal” tool. In order to set up just the right energy level for your skin, we thoroughly measure and assess its thickness and elasticity. Besides, we often complement it with Post-Op Lymphatic Massage and special compression methods to make sure that the newly tightened skin heals without fibrosis. Opting for our Medical Facility means making a scientifically sound choice for a healthy tissue that is aesthetically transformed.
Frequently Asked Questions About J-Plasma Liposuction
No, that is not the same thing. Laser lipo works by light energy melting the fat and also gives you some minor skin tightening. J-Plasma, instead, uses helium plasma energy which is meant only for skin tightening and it is much stronger than laser.
To some extent, it depends how bad it is. For example, if you have a skin apron or a hanging fold of skin (pannus), then the surgery will still be necessary to remove it. J-Plasma is intended for patients whose skin is loose but without an excessive hanging.
Technically, the skin tightening is permanent since the skin has been contracted physically. Yet, your skin will naturally keep aging with time. Also, if you don’t fluctuate in weight, the result will last longer.
The healing period will be pretty much the same as regular liposuction. Due to the thermal energy, for the first week, you might internally feel a slightly more intense “tight” or “sunburn” type of sensation. However, it is easily controlled through medication.
Essentially, any area with loose skin can be treated: stomach, flanks (love handles), back (bra rolls), inner thighs, upper arms, and even the neck or chin.
