It combines implants with fat transfer.
Up until recently, breast enhancement enthusiasts had to choose from only two options: silicone implants or fat transfer. Both options had their advantages and disadvantages. Firstly, implants gave a guaranteed, substantial increase in volume and projection, but also had the risk of appearing “round” and feeling firm. On the other hand, a fat transfer gave a completely natural feel and softness, yet it was limited in how much size it could add (usually only one cup), and it also lacked upper-pole fullness.
We now live in an era where patients don’t need to make a choice. Welcome to hybrid breast augmentation (also referred to as composite breast augmentation), the next generation of breast enhancement surgery. This sophisticated procedure merges the supporting power of an implant with the soft, artistic drape of your own fat. It is often considered by plastic surgeons as the “Rolls-Royce” of breast surgery because it leverages the advantages of both techniques while eliminating their weaknesses. At Lin Health Europe Clinic, you can count on our expertise in this dual-modality technique to deliver results that are not only larger but also perfectly natural-looking at the same time.
The “Cleavage Gap” Problem

Many patients using traditional breast implants complain about the “gap” formed at the center. From an anatomical standpoint, an implant cannot be placed right on top of the sternum (breastbone) since it would lift the skin off the bone and cause a “single-boob” look (symmastia). That is why a space between the breasts always stays where the implants end.
Hybrid breast augmentation is the solution for this. While the implant gives the main volume and projection, we take fat from your body and inject it exactly into the subcutaneous layer of the cleavage (the parasternal zone). In this way, we can visually bring the breasts closer to each other without shifting the implants into a dangerous area. The fat works as a gentle bridge, allowing the creation of that tightly touching cleavage which is typically missing with implants only.
The “Invisible” Implant: Hiding the Edges
When there is a lack of enough natural breast tissue in very slim patients, implants may appear to be “glued” to the skin. Sometimes, the edges of the implant (visible lines) can also be seen and the rippling of the shell can be detected by touch, mostly at the sides or at the upper pole.
What makes the hybrid method perfect is precisely this aspect. The fat graft serves as a “soft tissue blanket.” We effectively mask the junction between the chest wall and the breast by applying a fat layer over the implant edges (usually around 50-100cc fat). This additional layer hides any possible rippling and makes the breast appear soft and warm to the touch, instead of a foreign body. The implant provides a high-profile look while the adipose tissue keeps the breast soft and pillow-like.
The Lipo-Contour Benefit
A hybrid breast augmentation is not just another breast surgery, but also a body contouring procedure. To obtain the fat for the graft, liposuction must be performed. This is, in fact, one major reason why the majority of our patients fall in love with this procedure. Abdomin, flanks (“love handles”), or thighs are the areas that we harvest the “liquid gold” from by targeting them through liposuction. This way, making your waist thinner and thus enhancing the bust at the same time, the two effects are acting in synergy. Such an overall enhancement of the waist-to-hip-to-chest ratio makes breast augmentation appear not only more dramatic but also in perfect harmony with the rest of the figure. Thus, getting bigger breasts is not the only result one obtains; the figure gets sculpted, too.
Correcting Asymmetry and Tube Shape

A lot of women not only have small breasts but also asymmetrical or awkwardly shaped ones, like Tuberous Breasts. The shape of an implant is a fixed one (round or teardrop). So, if a round implant is used in an asymmetrical breast, the result will probably reveal the asymmetry in the end.
Unlike a fixed-shape implant, fat is fluid. The latter offers the surgeon freedom to be a creative artist. In addition to perfectly balancing the difference in sizes, fat injected side also allows us to equalize the two breasts morphologically. In the particular case of tuberous breast, we will be able not only to extend and enlarge the lower pole but also to “fine-tune” the elastic texture. While the implant lays the framework, fat provides the possibility of making the “small details” that one can do with silicone alone. So, hybrid breast augmentation serves as the perfect solution that brings precision and excellence together, especially where corrective interventions are required.
Future-Proofing: Preventing the “Ripple Effect”
There is another great advantage of hybrid breast augmentation that deserves to be mentioned, especially in the context of aging. With the passing of time, due to hormonal changes and gravity, natural breast tissue and skin usually become thinner. An implant, which looked natural at the age of 25, might, by the age of 40, start showing visible “rippling” or edges as the covering tissue fades away.
In a hybrid procedure, the injected fat acts as a long-term “cellular insurance.” It enables the body to create new blood vessels that will constantly nourish the fat thus allowing it to live and integrate with the breast tissue. This way, it will keep that important layer of thickness over the implant and make it last for years. Its thickness will protect the implant shell from the thinning skin and your results will stay soft and natural-looking even after many years; also, you won’t ever experience the so-called “skeletonized” implant look which is very common in older patients with augmentations.
Lin Health Europe Clinic: The “Dual Plane” Hybrid
At Lin Health Europe Clinic, we elevate the hybrid concept by also incorporating the Dual Plane technique for implant placement. We put the silicone implant partly under the muscle for optimal support and durability and then, the fat grafting is done in the subcutaneous plane above the muscle.
The implant is securely fastened, and the fat is in a vascularized, healthy bed to survive thanks to this multilayered strategy. The fat is harvested with the help of high-definition VASER-assisted liposuction, which is less traumatic for the cells and hence results in higher survival rates (up to 70-80%). This thorough protocol reduces the possible formation of calcifications or cysts to an absolute minimum and, at the same time, it achieves the maximum “wow” factor for your result.
Frequently Asked Questions About Hybrid Breast Augmentation
It basically gives you the volume of an implant combined with the natural feel and softness of fat. you can achieve a better cleavage and the implant edges will be less visible, especially if you are thin.
Generally, per breast, we require about 100ml to 150ml of good quality fat. hence, we normally need to collect 300-500ml of raw fat by liposuction from areas like the stomach or thighs.
Approximately, 60% to 70% of the transferred fat remains and is permanent. the body breaks down and absorbs the rest during the first 3 months. however, the implant volume is stable and 100% permanent.
It is a question of whether or not you have enough fat to harvest. If you don’t have any extra fat, the hybrid technique will not be an option, and we will have to use implants only, maybe placed under the muscle for more coverage.
Yes. in hybrid breast augmentation, there is an additional surgical time, use of specialized equipment for fat processing, and liposuction. it is a high-end, two-in-one procedure.
